Shatrughan’s struggles

Asked to talk about the struggles of his father and sister, Luv said that Sonakshi Sinha did not have to struggle a lot as she became a star right from her first film. He shared a few memories from the time when his father Shatrughan faced financial crisis, and said, “There were times when he had to choose either travelling by bus for his meetings or saving the money for food. Sometimes he would eat and walk miles and sometimes, to save time, he would let go of food. He talks about the time when doubted himself, and thought if it was the right decision to leave Patna and move to Mumbai for his dreams and ambitions. There were times when he was at his peak that our house, even though small at that time, was filled with people. And then when his films were not working, no one would be around. I have seen both the rise and the fall, closely.”

Shatrughan, Sonakshi never recommended Luv for a role

Luv also reiterated that neither Shatrughan nor Sonakshi ever requested or asked anyone to cast Luv in any of their films. It may look beautiful from the outside, but that is not how easily things worked for him, the actor added. “There have been times when I landed somewhere for an audition but got the feeling that something else is going on here. Like, maybe I do not fit the role, but I have been also called for the audition…. just for the sake of it. Aise hi bulaya gaya hai, ‘aa jaiye kar dijiye par uske baad dekha jaega (Come and give the audition, but we’l see how things go after that)’. So, that is an advantage one has having been born in the industry. You understand how things do not always work on merit alone. Everyone around knows that, and there is no point getting frustrated or becoming an alcoholic or something like that over this.”

Luv also talked about the off and on friendship between his father and Amitabh Bachchan. He said that competition is bound to happen ,when you have two ‘outstanding actors’, however, there was nothing personal between them and therefore they got back together.

Luv Sinha’s film career

Luv Sinha now awaits the release of Gadar 2. He will be seen alongside Sunny Deol, Utkarsh Gupta and Ameesha Patel in the film that is slated for an August 11 release in theatres. The film has been directed by Anil Sharma, who also directed the first Gadar – Gadar Ek Prem Katah which released in 2001.
